TEST METHOD NO. 26
LOAD PLACEMENT
1. TEST COURSE:
The test course shall be a level, improved surface laid out
in accordance with figure A-2.
2. TEST APPARATUS:
a. Stopwatch.
b. Two loaded 40 foot containers, one fully loaded (i.e.,
total weight 67,200 pounds) and the other loaded for a
total weight of 40,000 pounds.
c. Two loaded 20 foot ISO containers (44,800 pounds each).
d. Sling and spreader bar for 20 foot container handling.
e. Sling and spreader bar for 40 foot container handing.
f. Thermocouple and potentiometer or equivalent temperature
measuring device.
g. Two 15,000 pound loads with a 15,000 pound capacity sling.
3. TEST PROCEDURE
a. Block thermostat in the open position. Install
thermocouples in the hydraulic system reservoir near the
pump inlet, in the transmission sump, in the transfer
case sump, in the engine coolant outlet, in the torque
converter outlet adjacent to the torque converter, and in
the engine oil gallery. At each 30 hour interval, measure
the temperatures, including ambient, at successive hourly
intervals for a period of 6 hours.
b Start with the crane set up on its outriggers in the
center of the test course with the sling and 20 foot
spreader bar on the hook block. The two loaded 20 foot
containers shall be at positions A and B (see figure
A-2). Two tagmen shall be used for engaging and
disengaging the spreader bar to/from the containers.
c. Begin by engaging and lifting the container at position
A. Rotate 180 degrees counterclockwise (ccw) to position
C maintaining a constant operating radius throughout the
rotation. Lower and disengage the container. Rotate 90
degrees clockwise (cw) to position B and engage and lift
the container. Rotate 180 degrees ccw to position D
maintaining a constant operating radius throughout the
rotation. Lower and disengage the container.
d. Rotate 90 degrees cw to position C, engage and lift the
container. Rotate 180 degrees cw to position A
(maintaining a constant radius), lower and disengage the
