MIL-C-62135 A(AT)
3.5 Safety features All exposed parts of the crane which are subject to extremes in
temperature or which are energized electrically, or are so located as to be a hazard to operating
personnel, shall be insulated, inclosed, and guarded. A load sensing device shall be provided to
preclude lifting of loads in excess of the rated capacity of the crane. The crane shall be capable of
lifting 110% of rated load (2,750 lbs.) at the maximum and minimum load radius of the crane.
The load radius is the distance between the center of rotation and the center of the load block,
measured on a horizontal plane with the load suspended. A device shall be provided to override
the brakes to permit manual lowering of the load and boom in the event of an electrical failure.
3.6 Data plates. All data plates shall conform to Type III, Class 2, of MIL-P-514.

instructing the operator of the correct procedure to follow in the event there is an electrical
failure. All operational and caution data plates shall be mounted in locations readily visible to the
crane operator. Plates shall contain all necessary warning type information to assure proper
operation including the crane's rated lifting limitations. The operational data plate for operating
the crane in case of a power failure shall include the "model number", "part number 11651265,"
"serial number" (to be stamped in), "capacity 2,500 pounds" at any boom angle, as well as any
appropriate instructions.
