governed engine speed with the control valve in the full open
position.
3.9.7 Boom extension and retraction speeds The crane shall be
.
capable of extending the boom at a 60 degree boom angle without hook
block load from the retracted boom position to full boom extension at
a constant speed of not less than 35 feet per minute. The crane shall
be capable of retracting the boom at the 60 degree lift angle from
full boom extension to the retracted boom position at a speed of not
less than 50 feet per minute with no hook block load.
3.9.8 Curb-clearance circle. The curb clearance circle as defined
in SAE J695 shall be 52 feet, maximum.
3.9.9 Crane capacity. The crane on outriggers shall be capable of
engaging and lifting, swinging 360 degrees, and disengaging the
following loads plus the weight of the hook block at the specified
heights and radii (see 6.8 for definitions):
Hook Height
Load
Radius
15,000 lb.
35 feet
20 feet
48,000 lb.
27 feet
30 feet
73,000 lb.

40 feet
The crane shall also be capable of lifting the 48 000 pound load over
,
the front at a distance of 16 feet forward of the vertical plane of
the foremost part of the crane.
3.9.10 Drift. The boom lift assembly shall be capable of holding
rated load at a 60-degree boom angle with full boom extension not
less than 10 minutes with not more than 1 inch of cylinder travel.
Specified drift rates shall be measured when hydraulic oil
temperature is not less than 120° F.
3.9.11 Endurance. The crane shall be capable of completing the test
specified in 4.6.2.29 with no failures using the endurance failure
definition in 4.6.2.29.2.
3.9.12 High speed. The crane shall be capable of 4 hours of high
speed travel when tested as specified in 4.6.2.27 without
malfunction, damage, or permanent deformation, and without exceeding
specified temperature limits for the cooling system (see 3.10.2.6),
engine oil (see 3.10), transmission oil (see 3.11.1.1), universal
joints (see 3.11) or hydraulic system (see 3.12).
3.10 Diesel engine. For the purpose of selecting the engine, the
crane shall be classified as a class II end item in accordance with
