TEST METHOD NO. 5
DRIFT
1. TEST COURSE:
Level, flat surface.
2. TEST APPARATUS:
a. Temperature thermocouple and potentiometer or equivalent
temperature measuring device.
b. Clinometer.
3. TEST PROCEDURE:
a. Install the thermocouple in the volumetric center of the
hydraulic system oil reservoir. Heat the hydraulic oil by
exercising hydraulic functions until the oil temperature
exceeds 120° F. Maintain oil temperature above 120° F for the
duration of the test.
b. Raise the boom to a 60 degree boom angle at full boom
extension. Lift rated load to a minimum height of 2 feet.
Mark reference point on the lift cylinder.
c. Hold the load for 1O minutes and record the cylinder drift on
the lift cylinder.
