MIL-C-53057(ME)
full. The structural stress levels specified by SAE J1063 shall not
be exceeded.
6.8.2 Operating radius. The operating radius is the measured
horizontal distance from the centerline of rotation of the revolving
superstructure without load to the centerline of the crane hook block
with the load suspended.
6.8.3 Tipping point. The tipping point is the condition of crane
loading wherein the load moment acting to overturn the crane is equal
to the maximum moment of the crane available to resist overturning.
6.8.4 Tipping load. The tipping load is the force acting to
unbalance a crane at the tipping point (see 6.8.3). It includes the
weight of the hook block and all items suspended from the hook block.
6.8.5 Unimproved roads. An unimproved road is defined as a
primitive form of unmaintained road where the land was initially
cleared and leveled by tractor or grader.
6.8.6 Hoist. Hoisting a load shall be defined as lifting the load
by using the winch only, i.e. the crane boom shall remain
,
stationary.
6.8.7 Recovered materials. The term "recovered materials" means
materials which have been collected from solid waste and reprocessed
to become a source of raw materials, as opposed to virgin raw
materials. None of the above shall be interpreted to mean that the
use of used or rebuilt products is allowed under this specification
unless otherwise specifically authorized.
6.8.8 Hook height. Hook height is the vertical distance from the
ground to the bottom of the hook.
6.8.9 Mean time between failures (MTBF) MTBF is a value, within a
.
range of the operating characteristic (OC) curve, which, if
representative of the crane, provides a high probability of meeting
the requirements of the prescribed test (see 4.6.2.29).
